A Busy Spring Time

It has been pretty busy in our household for the last month or so.
Here is an update as to what we've been up too...

We start off with what has become our annual Church Garage / Plant / Bake Sale & Bar-B-Q.
I have been the lead organizer for the past five or so years now.
I ensure that the advertising gets placed around town and in the newspapers (it made a few of the local radio station websites this year as well).  I make announcements every Sunday morning before church, starting in around February and start asking people to commit to assisting, either with setting up, pricing or selling.  I end up being at the church the Monday - Friday right after work the week before the sale getting things set up, accepting all of the donations, making a few pickups and getting everything priced.

This year we started with a kitchen full of baked goods for sale.
By around 1:00 pm we had sold out of everything!

Of course, Caitlyn and Hannah HAD TO come to see what toys they could convince Daddy they needed.
This years Garage Sale was a tremendous success.  $2500 was brought in to add to our General Fund.

We've signed up to get the weekly e-mail newsletter for a local Garden Centre and have found out that they do kids crafts on the weekends.

Here are the girls making flower presses and making Mother's day cards.

Hannah decided one day that she was "ready to get her training wheels taken off."
Here is her bike after I took them off.
She tried a few times, and fell off her bike a few times.
Afterwards she asked me to put her training wheels back on.
"Maybe I'll get them taken off again when I turn 25!" Hannah said.

A few weekends ago now, Amanda and I were busy planting some new shrubs and trees around our house.  Here are the results so far.  As with most house projects, these are STILL a work in progress!

We have a future soccer star in our household.
Hannah had "Meet the Coach" yesterday and found out that she will be playing for the
St. Thomas Steel, her uniform is #4.  She is VERY excited!!
Besides the uniform (which is hers to keep), she got new shorts,
a pair of socks and the soccer ball that she's holding.
When I played for the Melrose Missiles, all I remember getting was
a uniform that I had to return at the end of the season!!

The girls had a couple of friends over to play the other evening.

Hannah told them all of the rules of the trampoline:
"OK, no smoking things, no knives, no fighting, no food, and no shoes!"
That's MY girl!

Today we went to the park....
... and napped afterwards!    What a BUSY weekend!

We are SO VERY PROUD of our big girl for being honored at school and receiving the following awards:

This past week, we (minus the girls) were invited to the local construction association Project Excellence Awards.  It was held in the ballroom of a very nice hotel and we had a great meal.  OK, I had a great meal, Amanda thinks she got food poisoning from undercooked chicken.

Our company received two awards for being part of the teams that built the DaVinci Business Park- Armatec and the North London YMCA, Library and Community Centre.

I was the lead sprinkler designer on the Armatec project.  You can check out their website here.
