Magic Ears & Face Painting

If you don't already know, Caitlyn has had some difficulty with words since she started to speak. The words she knows aren't that clear yet and she tends to drop the ending some of them as well. For example, the words "bear" & "bug", Caitlyn calls them "b's" (pronounced bees). We've been taking her to a program called Tyke Talk for the last year or so, to try to help her with her speech. We've had some success, but not to the extent that we or the language pathologists would like to see for a girl Caitlyn's age. They suggested and made appointments for her to see an audiologist and a 'Ear-Nose-Throat' (ENT) Doctor. After numerous testing & even a final test where Caitlyn had to be sedated so that the results would be accurate, it was discovered that Caitlyn has mild-moderate hearing loss in both ears. Last week we picked up her new 'magic ears'; as you can see they are pink with white swirls. Here's hoping that Caitlyn's 'Magic ears' allow her to actually hear entire words now and that the words come to her!
HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYBODY! We celebrated by going to a local park and getting our faces (or arms) painted. Hannah got a beautiful flower or her arm and Caitlyn was a lovely butterfly. Unfortunately, their daddy forgot to recharge the batteries in the camera the evening before, so there isn't a picture showing Caitlyns finsihed butterfly.

Grandpa's 60th Birthday (the BIG surprise!)

We had it all planned out months ahead of time. We would ONLY tell my sisters about our plan, and simply tell Mom & Dad that we were going away for a weekend. Well, to their astonishment, we actually drove 2000 kilometers so that we could surprise Dad at his 60th Birthday party. I love when surprises work this well!

The Day Before the BIG Surprise

We stayed at my sister's (Auntie Heather & Uncle Al's) house the night before arriving in Winnipeg. Caitlyn & Hannah enjoyed playing with their cousin Cole!
