Going to see Santa 2009

We took the girls to our local mall last weekend after they actually told us that they wanted to see Santa. Hannah after telling us for about a month and a half what she wanted to say to Santa decided that she wasn't too interested in him after all! That is, until he offered a candy cane which she grabbed from his hand and yelled "I want a Hippie-potamose!" At least Santa knows for sure now what she wants!
Caitlyn, on the other hand, after five whole years decided that Santa was going to be her friend this year. She asked him for a "doll house'. We'll have to see if both girls got on Santa's 'nice' list. We will give an update after Christmas day.

Hallowe'en and Fall Fun

HAPPY HALLOWE'EN EVERYBODY!!
The girls dressed as Princesses (or fairies) this year and both had a fun time trick or treating.
It was a little chilly with the wind, but compared to Winterpeg, Manisnowba is was balmy!
Hannah was usually first at the houses to knock on the door and once she got so scared by the creature that opened the door for her that she just frooze and stuck her loot bag out without saying anything! Caitlyn got cold and wanted to go home but Hannah probably would have stayed out all night. She kept saying 'Lets go, I want more candy Daddy!'
For some reason I have this picture first, but this is the girls with all of their candy after being outside for about an hour.
Introducing... Princess Hannah! (Yes Dad, that IS makeup!)

Introducing... Princess Caitlyn (My Little Big Girl did NOT want any makeup)

"Everyone ready?"

Our newest neighbor is all ready for Trick or Treating!
Now a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, THAT would be scary!

Two princesses, two three year olds and a Minnesota Twin... everybody IS ready!

The girls at House #1

This pumpkin wasn't feeling very well! Must be the H1N1 virus!!

Here are the girls playing in Gramma and Grampas back yard on November 1st. A little cool out today and still no snow!

Even the playhouse (see previous post) has been winterized.

Birthday Cake

Caitlyn Turns Five!

Auntie Debbie & Uncle Brian were driving home from Toronto and stopped in for dinner. I have a feeling that my girls had a fun time, especially since Debbie & Brian bought us KFC for dinner!

Uncle Brian was being very silly with Caitlyn! "I'm watching you!"

So, the Event of Fall 2009 finally arrived- Caitlyn's 5th Birthday! Here are some of the decorations in our basement for the exciting day. When we first asked Caitlyn if she wanted to have a birthday party, she said 'Yes!', then when we asked her who she wanted to invite, she said 'Max!'. Max was so excited to be invited. he has now invited Amanda, Caitlyn, Hannah and I to his house to play Hotwheels.
We had planned on going to a local farm to go on a horse wagon ride, do a corn maze, etc. but it had been raining all week so the farm was really wet; even the morning of the party. Luckily, we had a backup plan. We had the party in our basement and we decorated pumpkins, had a 'non-violent' Pinata, and made hot dogs for lunch.
Here is Caitlyn's friend Max with his decorated pumpkin.

Evie with her pumpkin.
Hannah loved the glitter paint and stickers!

Everybody, pull a string and watch for falling candy!

The Little Mermaid cake was 'yummy'

Soother- BE GONE!!

Just to let everybody know; Hannah has now gone FIVE NIGHTS without her beloved soother. As I stated in an earlier posting, the Trailer Fairy took both of her soothers. Mommy & Daddy were getting very tired of seeing a soother in her mouth in every picture of her. Also, she is getting quite good in the conversation department, so it was getting frustrating to listen to her with the soother in the way. FYI- Caitlyn was 3 years old when she lost her soother. Actually, she lost hers AFTER Hannah was born.

1st Camping (ok- Trailering) Trip

Last weekend we took the girls on their very first camping trip at a Trailer Resort about 2 hours away. The trailer was waiting for us there. All we had to bring was dishes, cutlery, blankets, towels and oh yeah toilet paper (Caitlyn was the first to discover that it wasn't included when we first got there!!) The trailer came complete with a microwave, a regular oven and range top, coffee maker, fridge, freezer, and bathroom (with a shower!). One double bed in the 'master' bedroom, a bench seat and the kitchen table, both which converted to other beds. The girls loved it!!
When we picked up the girls from daycare to go camping, Hannah's teacher asked us if we were actually going camping. Apparently, all day she was telling people "We're going camping at the beach, by the ocean under the stars!!" What a two-year old!
The girls enjoying some 'play time' inside the trailer.
Going for a walk around the trailer park.
"Daddy, look at me!"
Caitlyn surprised us by actually wanting to go on these swings.
Eventually both girls decided that they would make up their own seats at the table.
Going for a walk to the beach.
It was a little bit cool in the morning, which is why the girls aren't in their bathing suits yet.
It got a lot warmer in the afternoon, after our naps!

Relaxing by the fire, waiting for the marshmallows to appear! Daddy had no problem lighting this fire; he's quite outdoorsy!
Careful, the fire is HOT!

Careful, the marshmallows are STICKY!
Yech! Very sticky!
Baby wipes actually work great to get marshmallow off fingers.

The Lane our trailer was on.
Our camp site.

We had a great time on our very first camping trip. Next year, we might actually rent a camper and go travelling somewhere.
On a very positive side note: Since leaving the trailer park this past Sunday, Hannah has been without her Soother. She asked for it during the ride back home, but Mommy & Daddy didn't have it as the Trailer Fairy took it. Hannah then asked 'for the other one' - what a smart girl! so Mommy said that the Trailer Fairy took that one too!
